AI engineer based in London who loves playing and watching basketball, enjoying a good sauna, and hunting for cafés and pastries around London.
Who doesn’t like to crank out some work away from home in a cafe with nice tunes, good coffee to sip on, and no excuse to doomscroll YouTube? I have found myself coming out to cafes to work from time to time (more on the weekend) and I always use Google Maps to search “cafe with laptop”, but you know that can be hit or miss. So I am collating this personal collection of cafes where I’ve worked so you don’t need to guess anymore.

Added May 04, 2026Classic WatchHouse coffee quality with the lovely decor and vibe you'd expect. Sockets are tucked under the desks and a bit tricky to spot. WiFi works but requires filling in a form to connect. One thing to flag: when I went, it was table service only, so you have to wait to be seated — not sure if that was a one-off, but it can feel a bit stressful when it's busy, which it often is given the Marylebone location.
Get directions →Tucked near Farringdon, surrounded by offices, so expect office workers piling in for coffee at peak times. Standard WatchHouse WiFi (perfectly fine) and the usual top-tier coffee. Seating is limited and there are no sockets, but if you're really locked in and just need a focused hour or two to prep for something, it does the job.
Get directions →On the ground floor of the Ark Canary Wharf hotel, this cafe has high ceilings and a range of seating options. Great coffee and good food as per Another Brother quality, and the building provides super fast WiFi. The vibe is great since there are a ton of people with laptops out, all hustling as well.
Get directions →Don't be alarmed – this is a Wetherspoons pub, but the WiFi is great here. Imagine having a cheap pint with a meal, or unlimited coffee or tea in the afternoon. It's not bad at all if you're nearby and struggling to find somewhere reliable. Also, you can order from your table like any other Wetherspoons pub.
Get directions →Spent a lovely afternoon here facing the sunshine. Sockets are available but only at certain seats, so grab one of those if you can. It gets quite busy, but the staff is really friendly and there are plenty of other people on laptops, so the vibe is right for getting work done.
Get directions →Perfect little spot for a quick coffee and some brunch food. It gets a bit steamy in winter and busy on the weekends (a local's favourite spot), but a solid choice to get some work done.
Get directions →It's GAIL's, so you know what you're getting pastry-wise. This one has an upstairs area which is quieter with socket access. One good thing: if you're looking for a productive evening spot, they close at 6:30pm even on a Sunday!
Get directions →They have bakers actually baking on-site, so the place smells incredible the moment you walk in and the bread is genuinely excellent. Plenty of sockets, solid WiFi, great coffee — and I really like the coffee cups too. A proper standout west London spot for a productive session.
Get directions →Cafes I've tried that didn't work out for laptop work — keeping them here so I (and you) don't waste another trip.
Avoid on weekends if you're planning to work — laptops aren't allowed. I went hoping to settle in and ended up not being able to work, plus couldn't find a table either. Probably fine for a quick weekday coffee, but don't make the trip with your laptop.
